Mark Preston was born in 1960 in Dawson City, Yukon. He grew up in Whitehorse, Yukon. He attended the famed ‘Ksan School, where he studied with Eugene Alfred and Phil Janze (jewellery). He has been inspired by Vernon Stephens and Robert Davidson. Mark descends from the Tlingit (Inland) Raven and Frog Clans of the Kwanlin Dun People of Whitehorse. He is also known as Tenna Tsa Teh, meaning ‘master of the copper’. His signature, Tenna Tsa Teh incorporates the copper shield.
