Birthdate:                   1982

Douglas was born on January 11, 1982 in Victoria B.C.  He now lives near Victoria on the Tsawout First Nations land.  His father, Doug La Fortune inspired and taught him to carve in the contemporary Coast Salish style.  Douglas learned by first working on plaques and small masks, then moving on to totem poles as his work progressed. Douglas also has assisted his father on many projects, including a 30 foot totem pole which was carved for the Butchart Gardens in the summer of 2004.  Douglas now has been carving for 15 years, and is looking forward to a long career following in the foot steps of his father and carrying on the tradition that has been handed down to him.
